Abraham Blessed by Melchizedek

18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.) 19And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; 20and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Ge 14:18–20

Abram probably thought he was alone in the land of Canaan in worshipping God, but suddenly the mysterious Melchizedek appears unexpectedly and blesses Abram.

When you feel alone in your walk with God, it’s invaluable to meet someone who shares your faith. To not only talk about the weather, but also to share the bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper together, is a blissful joy that only a believer can understand.

Finding a true brother or sister who shares the same love for God is a blessing that should be taken advantage of as best as possible. Melchizedek then serves Abram in whatever spiritual way he can, and Abram in turn serves Melchizedek in whatever practical way he can. In this way, God is honored through the gifts each has and both receive what they need.

Prayer

Thank you Father for the spiritual fellowship. Thank you for giving me, at the right time and moment, a brother or sister who can be a blessing to me and we can strengthen each other’s faith.
